Dylan beats the drum for big panto show

A YOUNG drummer from Gorseinon is one of the youngest pantomime musicians in the UK – oh yes he is!

Dylan Goldring, aged 14, is in rehearsals for Pontardawe Arts Centre’s production of Cinderella in December.

It is the third consecutive year the Olchfa pupil has taken on drumming duties for the panto in Pontardawe by Class Act Theatre School (Cats).

“Panto’s fantastic fun to be involved with,” he said.

“There’s a great team spirit with Cats and with this production – we’ve been rehearsing since September and can’t wait for opening night. Cinderella at Pontardawe is going to be a fabulous family pantomime.”

A self-taught musician, Dylan plays drums, acoustic guitar and bass guitar, and is also an accomplished singer.

He joined Cats four years ago and has since taken the part of Oliver at Swansea’s Grand Theatre, and made it to the final three in auditions for the lead role in the West End production of Billy Elliott, for which he learned to tap dance.

And with dad Colin, the pair reached the semi-finals of television’s GMTV’s No 1 Family talent contest earlier this year.

Cats proprietor Jill Williams said: “Dylan’s a talented young man and it’s wonderful to have him on board for Cinderella. The whole company is determined to put on a polished show full of fun and laughter.”

Cinderella at Pontardawe Arts Centre runs from December 14-22.
