A TELEVISION broadcaster is swapping celebrity interviews to become a fairy godmother.

Pontardawe-based Rachel Hopkins has quizzed A-listers such as Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, as well as working on Sky’s Fitness TV channel and shopping channel Price-Drop TV.

But the 36-year-old is swapping her London duties for a key role in a Swansea Valley show.

Panto classic Cinderella is being staged in association with Swansea’s Class Act Theatre School (Cats) at Pontardawe Arts Centre next month.

Rachel, a former pupil of Olchfa and Cwmtawe comprehensive schools, said she was glad to be back in Swansea.

“The broadcasting is great fun,” she said. “But now I’m delighted to be back and focusing on something as colourful as this panto. The cast are fantastic and there’s a great feeling already. Everything to do with Cats seems to have wonderful team ethic.”

The panto will be staged at the centre between Monday, December 14 and Tuesday, December 22.

Tickets, which start at £5, are available from the centre on 01792 863722.
