Stage show aids Haiti fund

South Wales Evening Post, 28 May 2010

YOUNG Swansea stage stars raised more than £1,700 for the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

Swansea Lions Club and around 120 pupils of the city’s Class Act Theatre School (CATS) presented fundraising show An Evening At The Musicals at St James’s Church, Uplands, on May 9.

The performers, aged seven to 20, showcased favourites from hit musicals such as Godspell and 13 – both of which CATS will perform in full at Swansea Grand Theatre in July.

Lions Club president Terry James said: “The event was hugely enjoyable. It was amazing how so many children were able to perform so ably.”

CATS principal Jill Williams added that Lions members and friends had worked hard to stage the fundraiser.

She said: “It was a real team effort.”
